How To Get Rid Of That Unwanted Holiday Gift & Earn 500 Points Or Miles In The Process

by SharonKurheg

Every once in a while you’ll get that holiday gift where you wonder, “What was (s)he THINKING?” Or it’ll be from that co-worker who you know wasn’t thinking, period. But there you are, stuck with that apple shaped cigarette lighter or a green scarf with hand painted purple frogs on it. (BTW, the cigarette lighter was a 100% true story – my father [who still smoked at the time] bought my mom one of those for her birthday once. She had quit smoking 4 years previously. No lie! Boy, was she mad, LOL!)

So what can you do with it? It’s not like you can re-gift something as atrocious as that. And throwing it out makes you feel guilty. Well, what if I told you that you could trade that unwanted gift in for your choice of 500 frequent flyer miles or 500 hotel points? Because you can!

Rocketmiles.com is a travel company where you can book hotels with them and “earn thousands of loyalty miles and points per night.” Whether or not the entire Rocketmiles program is good for you is a matter of Your Mileage May Vary. I recommend this article from One Mile At A Time and this one by The Points Guy to help you decide. Anyway, if you do decide to join, we’d certainly appreciate if you registered with our referral link and if you do, you’ll earn 1,000 additional bonus miles after your first stay (we will also earn 1,000 miles after your first stay).

But all that set aside, Rocketmiles has a promotion going on right now where, if you send them an unwanted holiday gift, they’ll add a credit of 500 bonus miles or points to your next Rocketmiles booking. Gifts must be postmarked by January 31, 2019 and there’s a limit of one bonus per customer. Rocketmiles reserves the right to deny a bonus if the regift is used, alive, poorly handmade, has an offensive odor, has been in your ears, or came from your office supply cabinet – so although you’ll be sending them crap, make sure it’s GOOD crap. 😉

Here’s all the fine print:

Qualifying Activity: To be eligible for this promotion, Rocketmiles customers must send a gift to the following address: Rocketmiles, 641 W Lake Street, Suite 102, Chicago, IL 60661, USA. Please include your name and the email associated with your Rocketmiles account. Gifts must be postmarked by January 31, 2019. Limit one bonus per customer. Limit one bonus per stay. Rocketmiles reserves the right to deny a bonus if the regift is used, alive, poorly handmade, has an offensive odor, has been in your ears, or came from your office supply cabinet. All gifts received become property of Rocket Travel, Inc, and will not be returned regardless of bonus eligibility. By sending a gift, you grant Rocketmiles permission to use the gift in its entirety — including text and images — in any and all publications, including website and social media entries that are publicly shared. Your name or email will never be publicly shared. Upon receiving this gift, Rocketmiles will post a courtesy reward of 500 bonus miles or points to your user account. This courtesy reward will be applied to your next Rocketmiles booking, and you will receive this reward after your next stay is complete. Rocketmiles reserves the right to retract a bonus at any time if it detects technical errors, cancel/rebooking activity (defined by identical search criteria), or any deceptive behavior attempted to circumvent the limits expressed above including multiple accounts. Promotional offer cannot be applied to existing bookings, retroactively applied to previous bookings, or combined with any other offers. Promotion can only be redeemed through specific reward programs.

Want more info? Click here to go to Rocketmiles’ home page and click here for the regifting offer. And remember, if you’re new to Rocketmiles and sign up with our referral link, you have the potential to get another 1,000 miles on top of the 500 miles for the regifting gift.
