Sometime recently, Marriott Bonvoy launched its summer hotel promotion called Endless Earning. Now, Hilton had already launched their Go More, Get More promo in May around the same time that IHG came out with their Accelerate Make Every Stay Count promotion. In mid-June, Hyatt came out with their promotion targeted to holders of their co-brand credit card. So Marriott is only two months behind the others in launching their summer offer, which, considering how the Bonvoy thing is going, isn’t that bad for them.
In looking over the offer, I can say that it has something good going for it. It’s easy to understand.
It’s not valuable and I don’t see how it will drive much business to Marriott hotels. It’s also not going to cost them very much and will hopefully be easy to manage. I’ll give Marriott a break. Maybe they need some softballs right down the middle to start to get their confidence back.
So what’s the offer?
So there you go. Stay for two nights at a Marriott hotel and get 1,500 bonus points. Wash, Rinse, Repeat as many times as you want.
I’ve never met a hotel promotion that I didn’t sign up for so go ahead and sign up for this one. If they’re giving away points, might as well take them. Here’s the landing page for the promotion.
Now for the disappointing details. What are 1,500 Marriott points worth?
The least expensive category 1 Marriott hotel costs 7,500 points a night so you’d have to stay at least 10 nights, five different two night stays, to earn enough points. Want a category 2 hotel? That’ll take 16 nights, eight different stays of two nights or more.
Want to stay at the category 8 Ritz Carlton Kyoto?
To earn the 85,000 points needed for a free night you’d need 112 nights (56 stays of two nights or more). I don’t think there’s enough time in this promotion to earn that many points. And if you’re living in Marriott hotels and moving around every two nights, I’m sorry. Unless you like that sort of thing. Then “This Promo’s For You!”
Important things to know:
- You need to register by September 2, 2019
- The earning period is for stays between July 2, 2019, and September 16, 2019
- A stay is considered as consecutive nights at the hotel, No checking out after two nights and checking back in at the same hotel for more points.
- Rates from third-party online websites and select travel agency rates are not eligible for the promotion.
- Nights spent while redeeming an award are not eligible for bonus points.
Check the Marriott website for more details and the official rules.
Happy promotion, hope we don’t get Bonvoyed!!!!!
