Problems on Southwest, The New Mickey Mouse Exhibition,The Dreaded AMEX Financial Review, & More…

Happy Sunday to all of our travel friends, both near and far! Here are some articles we’ve read from other bloggers (and other sources) that we think you may like, as well, so we’re passing them along.

Anya wrote on Frugal Travel Guy about her experience boarding Southwest Airlines on a flight from Orlando this week. We’ve experienced the same which is why we’ll always pay the extra for “Early Bird” boarding, even after Southwest increased the price.

Gary from View From The Wing wrote about two high profile Marriott hotels who had the rules changed so they don’t have to offer free breakfast to Platinum members. I don’t care about free breakfast so this isn’t a big deal for me, but I hate to see when hotels feel they’re above the rules and the hotel chain allows it to happen.

Michelle from Oh My Disney has discovered more about the “Mickey: The True Original Exhibition” that’s in NYC for the next couple of months to celebrate Mickey Mouses’s 90th birthday, and she’s posted all the rooms that are on display.

Shawn from Miles to Memories underwent an American Express financial review and wrote about his experiences. These reviews are feared because AMEX can shutdown all of your accounts, at their own discretion. Fortunately everything worked out because Shawn was honest with AMEX throughout the whole process.

Emily wrote on Million Miles Secrets about how she transfers her Chase Ultimate Rewards points to Southwest Airlines for domestic flights. While some people who follow points and miles will say this is a horrible redemption, she thinks it’s a great value cause those flights are making family memories that will last forever. Another example of how when deciding the value of points, Your Mileage May Vary.

Lucky wrote on One Mile At A Time about the comedy of errors he experienced while getting a visa upon arrival in Kenya. I got nothing else, it was a funny read.

Sebastian from Loyalty Lobby wrote about an interesting trend at some hotels. Instead of offering bottled water in the room, they are installing “water filtering faucets” as an eco-friendly feature. I’m OK with not washing the sheets every day or hanging up my towel, but depending on the city, tap water (filtered or not) can vary from wonderful to undrinkable.

Braxton from Inside Universal reported on the 14th annual Day of Giving that was held at Universal Studios Hollywood, where 300 local homeless children were offered new clothing, shoes, books and school supplies, and then invited to visit the park for a day. Giving to those less fortunate is ALWAYS the best!
