Hamilton Fan? Don’t Throw Away Your Shot To See This Exclusive Hamilton Exhibition!

by SharonKurheg

If you’re a fan of Broadway, especially Broadway musicals, you’re well aware that Hamilton has become a cultural phenomenon.

In 2016, it got a record-setting 16 Tony nominations (it won 11, including Best Musical), and was also the recipient of the 2016 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album and the 2016 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. It has permanent-until-it-closes productions in NYC, Chicago and London’s West End, as well as three U.S. national tours. That’s on top of a half dozen or so special Hamilton-themed musical releases.

If all this is old hat to you, then you may be interested to know that next up will be Hamilton: The Exhibition.

Awesome…wow…

Opening in Chicago on April 27, Hamilton: The Exhibition will use the storytelling techniques and music of Hamilton: An All American Musical to tell the story of the, “ten dollar Founding Father without a father” and the time he lived in. “Dynamic and interactive mix of lighting, sound, multimedia, music and historical artifacts, you will experience how it felt to write the way Hamilton wrote, fight the way Hamilton fought, and live the way Hamilton lived.”

Who lives, who dies, who tells your story…

The exhibit will include interactive opportunities such as sitting at Hamilton’s desk and discovering the link between the skills he gained as a slave trader in St. Croix and the ones he used to build the U.S.’s financial system. You’ll be able to see replicas of the streets of late 19th century New York City. When you enter George Washington’s war tent, you’ll learn how the Revolutionary Army planned their victory over the British at the Battle of Yorktown…all with an audio tour narrated by Lin-Manual Miranda.

Prices for the exhibition, before handling fees, will be:

  • Adults: $39.50
  • Senior/Military: $32.50
  • Children/Youth (age 4-14): $25

There will be discounts or groups of 10 or more and the audio tour will be included in the price of the ticket.

Housed on Northerly Island, just southeast of The Field Museum and Shedd Aquarium, Hamilton: The Exhibition will be easily accessible by car, bus, train, CTA, Netra, RTA and bike. Using public transportation is recommended.

Individual tickets will go on sale via Ticketmaster.com on February 15, 2019.

After its debut in Chicago, “Hamilton: The Exhibition” will travel to other cities in the U.S. (and nope, they don’t say which ones yet. Sorry.)

Look around, look around at how lucky we are to be alive right now…
