Florida Airports Get Into A Tweet War Over….Chili’s?

by SharonKurheg

We’ve mentioned before that we love Orlando International Airport’s social media dude. His posts on Twitter, in particular, are informative but he also puts out a whole lot of fun tweets that make us smile. That’s why MCO’s Twitter account (along with several others) is one of our favorites.

Over the years we’ve discovered that the the Twitter accounts of many other airports are equally as fun and amusing. Tampa. Atlanta. etc. So when TPA started throwing MCO some shade, it wasn’t surprising…but it sure was funny!

Some background

One of the restaurants at MCO is Chili’s. But it’s not just any Chili’s…you have to take an escalator to get to it. Which normally wouldn’t be a big deal, except that’s pretty much all the escalator leads to – the Chili’s. And there’s another escalator going down from it. It’s like a standalone Chili’s in the sky. It’s weird.

Anyway, it’s become something of a thing on Twitter to mention that you’re at THE Chili’s at MCO.

So then, all of a sudden on the fine morning of July 29, TPA decided to throw MCO some shade about its Chili’s:

And from that point onward, it was ON…

Of course, other airports had something to say…

And even these…

And, of course, onlookers had to join it, too…

(BTW it used to be a Chili’s Too but is now labeled as a regular Chili’s. 😉 )

So yeah…it was an amusing morning in the Twitterverse 😉
