Happy Sunday to all of our travel friends, both near and far! Here are some articles we’ve read from other bloggers (and other sources) that we think you may like, as well, so we’re passing them along.
- There’s nothing that strikes fear into those collecting points and miles than programs devaluing their programs. It’s gotten to the point with unannounced changes that any hint of changes raises the anxiety level to 11. While many were fretting about United changing their program to dynamic pricing for partner awards (they have already announced the same for their own tickets), Gary from View from the Wing urges everyone to calm down for now. There are no announced changes to the program, despite a change to the wording on United’s website. I’ll admit, I can be sucked into the worry spiral, like when it seemed Chase would stop point transfers between Ultimate Rewards accounts (which they haven’t).
- If you haven’t seen the video, there was a catering cart spinning out of control and coming dangerously close to a plane. While most of the workers stood around dumbfounded, one of them jumped to action. Check out this post from Travel Codex to find out more.
- Ben from One Mile at a Time wrote about a significant delay on the debut of the new Ritz Carlton cruise ship. I’m sure the finished product will be magnificent. I’m wondering if they’re looking to get some of the same audience that books a trip on the Four Seasons Jet.
- Since I just wrote about how I was giving the American Express Platinum card another look, this post on Point Me to the Plane about why the Centurion Lounges will be getting even more crowded in 2020 was of particular interest to me. As it stands now, these are the lounges you can get into with the Amex Platinum.
- The writers from Frequent Miler are currently right in the middle of their #40KFarAway challenge. Check out their updates on this website. There are things to be learned from both their successes and failures during their trips and I’m loving the real-time commentary.
- Brian from The Gate adds two more reasons to his list of why he will not pay the money for Global Entry or TSA PreCheck. While I understand his points, I don’t think these things are reasons to not pay for the service, particularly when there are so many credit cards that will reimburse you for the fee. For us flying from Orlando, it has transformed how long it takes us to get through the security line.
- I recently wrote about my credit card strategy for the rest of the year so it was interesting to see a post from Miles For Family looking at the same question. However, her problem wasn’t which card to apply for but which card to get when you’re often getting denials, or asking if you should slow down on applications for a while.
- We’re not frequent Target shoppers so I’m not 100% up to speed on the new Target Circle loyalty program. Thanks to a post on Doctor of Credit, I now know it launches today, October 6th, and to celebrate, Target is offering 15% on all books and movies until October 12th.
