SFO Lauches Fun Way to Wait for You Flight

by SharonKurheg

San Francisco International Airport is good at innovation. In more recent years alone, it’s won awards for things such as its TaxiVQ app, its video production, and its pop-up concession concept, designed to make the airport more accessible to small business owners. That program just celebrated its 10th anniversary.

The administrators at SFO know that sitting around and waiting for your plane can be tedious. And let’s face it…there’s only so much shopping and dining one person can do. So they’ve recently introduced another pop-up that sounds like a whole lot of fun – a silent disco for travelers.

From SFO:

Many of us end up running to our departure gate at the airport, but at San Francisco International Airport (SFO) you can dance your way there. The airport’s new San Fran-Disco experience lets you dance to a San Francisco-inspired playlist before takeoff. San Fran-Disco is a unique new addition to SFO’s range of innovative traveler amenities, and was launched as part of the Quiet Airport program, an initiative designed to enhance the passenger experience by reducing terminal noise.

If you’re going to be at SFO and want to dance your wait away, the dance floor can be found under the shiny disco ball (because of course there’s one) near the Johnston & Murphy store in the post-security area of Harvey Milk Terminal 1, near gate B-3.

And despite the meme, although SFO isn’t touting this part, I suspect it might also be a really good place for people watching 😉

The curated playlist won’t last forever, though – there’s a set date for that (if you’ll forgive the expression) “Last Dance.” San Fran-disco will only be available through March 15, 2024.

Oh, and if you won’t be flying through SFO between now and then, you can take a listen to the playlist here. That way, you can join the party from wherever you are.

I guess it depends on the person. For people who want to dance (or watch), I think it’s awesome!
