When Priority Pass began rolling out its new Priority Pass+ app, memberships provided through the personal American Express Platinum Card weren’t supported. That has now changed.
Earlier this year, I wrote about the gradual rollout of the Priority Pass+ app. At the time, I could add some of my Priority Pass memberships to the new app, but the membership connected to my personal American Express Platinum Card wasn’t eligible.
Amex Platinum Card Members can now add their Priority Pass Select memberships to Priority Pass+.
There is one catch: your existing Priority Pass login doesn’t carry over to the new app.
The original Priority Pass app uses a username, while Priority Pass+ requires an email address. That means you’ll need to create a new account when adding your Amex Platinum membership, even if you already have a working login for the older app.
Once the new account is set up, the Amex Platinum membership appears in Priority Pass+, along with its digital membership card. The app also provides the option to add the card to Apple Wallet.
However, the rollout is still not finished.
I also checked the Priority Pass membership provided by my Capital One Venture X Card, and that one still isn’t eligible for Priority Pass+. I still need to use the older Priority Pass app for that membership.
Final Thought
Priority Pass+ is still a work in progress rather than a complete replacement for the original app. Personal Amex Platinum memberships now work, but other credit card memberships, including the one from my Venture X Card, may still require the older version.
Amex Platinum Card Members can now make the switch, but they’ll need to create a new email-based account first.
