Flight Attendant Freaks Out & Trashes Duty Free Shop

by SharonKurheg

Several media outlets are reporting that a flight attendant went on a rampage in the duty free shop at an Italian airport, breaking multiple pieces of merchandise in her wake.

Details are limited, but according to reports, the flight attendant landed at Rome–Leonardo da Vinci Fiumicino International Airport (FCO) and learned that her temporary contract wasn’t going to be renewed. Her response – out of frustration? Poor anger management? – was to break an entire display of alcohol bottles.

The video was taken by FCO surveillance cameras and was posted on Welcome to Favelos, a social media team that posts oddball happenings in Italy. The post on their Instagram was removed, but was later posted on Italian language website corriere.it

The flight attendant, whose name and airline are unknown (some are suspecting South African Airways, based on the uniform color and design), allegedly caused 1500 Euros  (roughly US $1,623.71) in damages.

Since all this happened during normal business hours, the scene got the attention of multiple travelers who were in or near the shop. Many of them reported a strong smell of Sambuca wafting through the shop and airport hallway.

The area was quickly fenced off, while the flight attendant was stopped and taken away by airport staff.

The aftermath to clean up was…a lot. Here’s the original Insta link from Welcome to Favelos, but if it gets pulled, we’ve also included the copy that corriere.it posted.

I may be jumping to conclusions, but if that’s her response to her contract not getting renewed, it kind of makes you wonder what sort of inappropriate, unprofessional behaviors she showed at work, and miiiiiight point to why her contract wasn’t renewed. Yowsa!
