American actor John Malkovich is no slouch when it comes to his profession. The 68-year-old has been in over 70 films, including The Killing Fields, Empire Of The Sun, Dangerous Liaisons, and Ripley’s Game, to name a few. He’s won a Primetime Emmy Award, 2 Academy Awards, a British Academy Film Award, two Screen Actors Guild Awards and three Golden Globe Awards, and been nominated for a dozen and a half other awards during his career.
However, all that talent doesn’t mean you can’t make a mistake.
Malkovich was reportedly denied entry to his luxury suite at the prestigious Hotel Danieli, a Marriott Luxury Collection hotel in Venice, because his COVID Super Green Pass health certificate had expired the week before.
He, along with actor Andrew Scott, were scheduled to be in Venice for 2 days to film scenes for a TV adaptation of “The Talented Mr. Ripley.” But when Malkovich tried to check in to his hotel, he was denied because his Super Green Pass – a.k.a. an EU digital COVID certificate that certifies full vaccination or recovery – had expired the week before (through [at least] March 31, you have to have an up-to-date Super Green Pass in Italy to have access to restaurants, bars, regional transportation, museums, cultural centers, sports facilities, stadiums and yep, hotels).
You’d think someone with the status of John Malkovich would have “people” to watch over stuff like that, no? Whatever the case, since he couldn’t check in to his hotel, he was apparently forced to look for (and eventually found) private accommodations, which didn’t require an up-to-date Super Green Pass.
