Why I’m Signing Up For Walmart+ Via My AMEX Platinum Card

by joeheg

I’ve been an American Express Platinum cardholder for the last several years. While I agree with critics who say the Platinum card has become a glorified coupon book, it doesn’t mean there isn’t value when taking advantage of those coupons. It’s been easy for me to get back more than the $695 annual fee and the additional $195 we pay to have an authorized user.

However, until now, I’ve ignored one of the benefits of being an AMEX Platinum cardholder. I’m not a Walmart+ member. Well, until now.

Signing Up For Walmart+

I needed to purchase some household items and Walmart had the best price. When I went to place my order, Walmart tried to get me to sign up for Walmart+. Since I’d get a statement credit for my membership from my Platinum AMEX, I figured today was as good a time as any to sign up.

I could have signed up while paying for my purchase, but I decided to go to the AMEX website. When looking at the benefits of the Platinum Card, I found the Walmart+ benefit. a close up of a card

In order to use your AMEX Platinum credit, you have to sign up for a monthly membership. Annual memberships don’t count for the credit. While I would have received a free 30-day membership by signing up through the Walmart website, it doesn’t matter because I’m getting my membership fee reimbursed by AMEX.

Additional Perks

I never would have signed up for Walmart+ if it wasn’t for this offer from AMEX. But now that I have a membership, I can take advantage of the benefits. Besides getting free delivery, we’ll also get a free Paramount+ subscription and discounts on fuel at Murphy USA and Exxon/Mobil stations.

Now that I have an option to too at Amazon.com and Walmart.com, I’ll make sure to compare prices when shopping online. In addition to finding a lower price, Walmart.com also participates in shopping portal sites where Amazon doesn’t.

Final Thought

It only took a few minutes to sign up for Walmart+ with my AMEX Platinum card. If I can take advantage of the discounted prices, it will be another reason to hang on to my coupon book—oops, I mean card—for another year.

Also through Walmart+, three months free trial YouTube Premium, instead of the standard one month trial.

I can’t believe people are not automatically signing up for walmart + as soon as they have the plat or gold card. If they have what you need it is so much cheaper and faster delivery than prime. Prime is a shell of its former self always delays now when it should 2nd day. Walmart half the time I select ship it and someone will just drive it to my house for free! It’s what prime used to be. I’ve had egg deliveries and bottled water show up just fine. When I was packing for a trip needed some decongestant walmart+ delivered in 2 hours for free. It’s fantastic.
