If you follow travel industry news, you may have seen that after 34 years, Marriott is dropping Pepsi in favor of a new partnership with The Coca-Cola Company. This means that guests will begin seeing Coca-Cola’s brands in Marriott hotel rooms, restaurants, lounges, meetings and events via a worldwide phased rollout.
In the grand scheme of things, it’s probably not going to change where most people choose to stay. (Although if you’re fiercely Team Coke or Team Pepsi, maybe it matters more than I’d expect. 😄). But it still got me wondering which hotel conglomerates supply which soda brands? So I decided to find out.
Hotels that have Coca-Cola products
Based on companywide partnerships, here’s what the major hotel groups currently serve.
As it turns out, Marriott’s switch from Pepsi to Coke means that it’s joined a large group of hotel brands that serve Coca-Cola products:
- Hilton (9,100 properties)
- IHG (6,900 properties)
- Disney Resorts (55+ hotels)
Hotels that have Pepsi products
However not all hotel brands are loyal to Coke; at least one only offers Pepsi products:
- Hyatt (1,450 properties)
Hotels that don’t have any official choice
Some hotel brands haven’t made an official deal with a particular beverage company and allow the individual properties to decide which soft drink to sell.
- Accor (5,800 properties)
- Wyndham (8,300 properties)
Cruise Lines
The Coke vs. Pepsi fight isn’t limited to just hotels. Cruises are a big business and when, for example, Carnival Cruise Line switched from Pepsi to Coke in 2025, it made the papers.
Here’s what some of the most popular cruise lines offer:
Cruises that have Coca-Cola products
- Azamara
- Carnival Cruise Line
- Celebrity
- Disney Cruise Lines
- Holland America
- Princess Cruises
- Regent Seven Seas
- Royal Caribbean
- Seabourn
- Viking
- Virgin Voyages
- Windstar
Cruises that have Pepsi products
- Costa
- Cunard
- Fred Olsen
Cruises that have both Coke & Pepsi products
At least one cruise line has no official contract with either company – so sometimes you’ll see Coke, and sometimes you’ll see Pepsi.
- MSC
Dr. Pepper fan?
Dr. Pepper is an independent company, not owned by Coke or Pepsi. However, I’ve heard that if you sail from Galveston or New Orleans on a Carnival ship, you may be able to get Dr. Pepper onboard. Obviously, availability can vary by sailing and port, so don’t count on it every time.
Special note about soft drinks and cruises
If you’re staying at a hotel, bringing your favorite soda along usually isn’t a big deal. Cruises, however, are a different story and you may or may not be able to bring a supply of your soft drink of choice onto the ship with you.
If you are allowed, some cruise lines may have limits on amounts (read: one 12-pack, for example) or containers (some don’t allow glass, plastic, etc.) So check with your cruise line.
At the end of the day, whether your hotel or cruise serves Coke or Pepsi probably isn’t going to make or break your vacation.
But if you’re one of those people who insists there is a difference—and I know plenty of you are—you’ll probably appreciate knowing what to expect before you arrive.
And if your favorite brand isn’t available?
Well…there’s always water.
(Yeah, I know. That’s not the answer either side wanted to hear. 😄)
